Krishnagiri district is located in the northeastern part of Tamil Nadu, India. It is bordered by Dharmapuri district to the north, Tirupathur district to the east, and the city of Bangalore in Karnataka.

The district was formed in 1985, when it was split from Dharmapuri district. The district headquarters is the town of Krishnagiri. Other important towns in the district include Hosur, Bargur, and Uthangarai.

Krishnagiri district is a major agricultural district, and the main crops grown are rice, sugarcane, and turmeric. The district is also home to a number of industries, including textiles, sugar, and cement.

The district is well-connected by road and rail, and it is served by the Krishnagiri railway station. The nearest airport is the Bangalore International Airport, which is about 100 kilometers away.
